Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Flagler Schools. There are many different ways to make a difference, including joining activities like field trips, book fairs, and field days, or by working with students as readers, tutors, and mentors. To ensure the safety of our students, please review the application process and clearance procedures required for all volunteers at Flagler Schools.

Become a Volunteer

Application Process

In a continuing effort to provide safety and security to our students and staff, we require that a Volunteer Application is completed to participate in activities on campus. The clearance process can take up to two weeks (depending upon volume). Please apply at the beginning of the year or well in advance of the event: last minute applications may not be completed in time for the event.

By completing a Volunteer Application, applicants agree to a criminal background check and a sexual offender screening. They are also agreeing to abide by the policies and procedures of Flagler Schools and its facilities while volunteering. Personal information will be kept confidential and volunteers are expected to keep any and all information observed while volunteering confidential. Flagler Schools reserves the right to restrict and/or deny a person's volunteer privilege when deemed necessary.

All application information is kept confidential. By completing the application, applicants are agreeing to allow Flagler Schools to share their volunteer interest information with partnering agency, Flagler Volunteer Services, in order for them to add it to their volunteer database. This allows for both Flagler Schools and Flagler Volunteer Services to contact applicants regarding volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers working with or around children in the presence of or in line of sight of school district employees will have a national sex offender search conducted.

3D background checks are required for volunteers who will be unsupervised with students including those who are mentoring or tutoring students in a one-on-one situation, or chaperoning an overnight field trip. Applicants will undergo a criminal history background check which includes a national sex offender check. Once processed, all volunteer badges are valid for 1 year from the clearance date.

The applicant is responsible for paying a $23.95 fee for the background check. Please ensure that the payment is directly made to the Human Resources Department using either cash or a check. If paying in cash, please provide the exact amount. If paying by check, please make it payable to Flagler Schools.
