Book Review
Parents of a student or residents of the county may challenge instructional materials used in classrooms, school library books, or books on reading lists. Challenged materials must meet the following criteria:
Materials that were not subject to the review process during an adoption year including public notice of a hearing, review, and comment procedures (F.S. 1006.28).
Reconsideration of Media Materials
We suggest that prior to submitting a challenge to non-adopted instructional materials, you schedule a meeting with the principal of the school to gain an understanding of how the material is being used. To submit a challenge, please submit the Request for Reconsideration of Materials form.
View the Reconsideration Requests received since the 2022–23 school year.
Book Review Committee
Flagler Schools Book Review Committees conduct regular meetings to recommend whether challenged books should be retained or removed from the district's media centers. These meetings are open to the public. We will post meeting times and dates as they become available.
Florida House Bill 1467
Florida House Bill 1467 (HB 1467) states that each district school board shall adopt procedures for developing library media center collections and post the procedures on the website for each school within the district.
