School Board Spotlights: September 2022

School Board members had a number of spotlights during their September 20th meeting.

First, the Board recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, offering up a proclamation in support. They were also presented a flag from AdventHealth Palm Coast and heard about all the events surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness month, including the “Pink on Parade” 5K. That event is always supported by our schools and students.

The Board then offered a proclamation in support of October being Disability Employment Awareness Month. It was a great moment to learn about programs in place within our District to assist those with disabilities in finding employment. The TRAIL Program is a major contributor to these efforts.

Up next was a presentation from the Guy Harvey Foundation. They gave the District a framed lithograph in thanks for our commitment to the environment and continued education about marine conservation. Allison Cencebaugh from Wadsworth Elementary explained how her kindergarten students collected trash and turned it into a mural.

Finally, we welcomed our newest Student School Board members to the dais. Matanzas High School Principal Kristin Bozeman introduced Isabella Tietje, and Flagler-Palm Coast High School Principal Bobby Bossardet introduced Roymara Louissaint. Both young women have impressive academic records and equally impressive records of service beyond their campuses.
