School Board Spotlights: July 2022

During the July 19, 2022, School Board meeting, the members of the School Board took the opportunity to spotlight several people.

First was Emma Stanford. Emma is a rising 9th grader at Flagler-Palm Coast High School. She has fostered a relationship with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office K9 officers. It led to her forming “Emma Loves K9s,” a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for active and retired law enforcement K9s. Her work helped lead to Governor DeSantis signing Senate Bill 226 here in Flagler County this past June. The Care for Retired Dogs Program allows caregivers for retired K9s to be reimbursed up to $1,500 dollars each year for the dogs’ veterinary expenses.

Second, the School Board congratulated our 2021-2022 retirees. Prior to the night’s business meeting, Board members spent time with a number of retirees during a small get-together where they personally thanked the retirees for their tireless work in support of our schools and students.
