School Board Spotlights: November 2022

Flagler Schools has a newly constituted School Board and new officers.

The three newly elected school board members of Flagler Schools officially took their seats at the Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 School Board meeting. Christy Chong, William “Will” Furry, and Sally Hunt were sworn in by Flagler County Court Judge Melissa Distler, with each of the new members’ families present at the meeting. The new members join sitting members Cheryl Massaro and Dr. Colleen Conklin on the five-member elected panel.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the board selected their new officers. Massaro was elected chair and Conklin was elected vice chair, a post she previously held under the previous board.

Massaro is a retired educator who represents District 5 and Conklin is a professor with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University who has been on the board for 22 years and represents District 3.

Newcomer Hunt is a parent and businesswoman who won her seat, representing District 1, in the August primary election, as did Chong, a parent who now represents District 4. Furry was elected to his seat in the November 8th midterm election. He is a parent and real estate agent in the community, representing District 2.
