Elevating Excellence Award: May

Elevating Excellence Award: May

Flagler Schools Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt launched the “Elevating Excellence Award” at the beginning of this school year to recognize district staff and employees who went “above and beyond their job descriptions.” As this school year comes to a close, she is proud to announce not one or two…but three Elevating Excellence Award winners for May.

Evana Fretterd is the Activities Director and Career and Technical Education/Student Government Association instructor at Flagler-Palm Coast High School. In nominating Mrs. Fretterd, FPC Assistant Principal Stacia Collier writes,

“She is the heart of our school and keeps our gears running. Mrs. Frettered has created new systems and procedures that other departments use as well. “

Rebecca Oliva is an Information System Support Specialist and has supported Old Kings Elementary and Wadsworth Elementary Schools this year. Mark Saltmarsh, who heads IS for Flagler Schools, says of Oliva,

“She has been a mentor for the other elementary school IS Support Specialists. Rebecca understands the needs of the staff and offers a helping hand to all.”

Finally, Clint Chinn is a supervisor in Plant Services and has steadily risen up the ranks since being first hired as a member of the grounds crew. Kory Bush, Director of Plant Services, says,

“Clint has continued to show me that his promotion was definitely one I got right. On May 15, I got a call at 4:02 in the morning for a fire alarm at FPC. I called Clint, and without hesitation, he was at the school with the fire department to make sure the school was safe.”

Of all three, Superintendent Mittelstadt says, “All three of these awardees go about their jobs without seeking the spotlight. Their primary goal is to lift up those around them. They, as well as all of our awardees this year, are what makes Flagler Schools such an amazing place to work.”

As always, Flagler County Education Foundation Director Teresa Rizzo was also on hand to support our monthly celebration.

The following is a list of the other nominees who have gone above and beyond to impact our students and district best.

We want to congratulate all the nominees for the May Elevating Excellence Award:

  • Aimee Mock; ESE Department Secretary, Government Services Building
  • Isabel Fundora; ESOL Paraprofessional, Belle Terre Elementary School
