August 26, 2025 Meeting Recap – Information Workshop

School Community Engagement Highlights
Board members shared updates from across the district highlighting high levels of community engagement. MHS and BTES held productive SAC and PTO meetings, with MHS celebrating academic wins in social studies and CTE pass rates. BTES approved a scholarship for alumni through the Ed Foundation. RES showcased strong community support with business donations for their new sensory room and FPC student volunteers assisting with childcare during the PTO meeting. WES announced a new playground in the works and a September 8 fundraiser with Sweet Melissa’s Ice Cream. FPC's Link Crew mentorship program for freshmen received positive community feedback.

Transportation Department Update
The Transportation Department outlined major progress and new initiatives. Staffing allocations were increased to help fill critical roles, with the district now aiming to recruit additional substitute drivers and explore connections with FTC's commercial driving program. Key operational improvements include a new three-tier routing system, standardized stops, and monthly route audits. Safety protocols were enhanced with magnetic red "Kinder" signs identifying kindergarten seats. A new bus status page has launched to improve real-time communication with families.

Student Safety & Bullying Prevention Presentation
The district presented an in-depth overview of bullying prevention procedures, definitions, and investigative processes. Enhancements include more consistent reporting using the "unknown perpetrator" category, clearer communication with families, and greater emphasis on counseling supports. The updated process is designed to meet and exceed state requirements. Data dashboards now help identify patterns, and ongoing training is being refined to improve equity and fidelity across campuses.

Academic Achievement & Strategic Plan Update
The board reviewed state assessment outcomes and strategic plan progress. The district maintained its B rating and saw increases across all academic content areas. FPC was the most improved school overall, and several elementary schools reported major gains in achievement and subgroup performance. The district is currently 25 points away from an A. The strategic plan goals were reviewed across all departments, with most on track or exceeding targets.

BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Celebrating School Involvement and Safety Initiatives
Board members reported strong community turnout at SAC and PTO meetings across MHS, BTES, RES, BES, and more. Several highlighted increased collaboration with families, new safety-focused programs, and student mentorship efforts. Legislative planning and policy forums were also discussed, with members committed to ongoing advocacy for student needs, including transportation funding and bus driver pay.

Kindergarten Readiness and Bullying Reporting
Multiple members emphasized the value of early childhood education, especially the impact of VPK programs on kindergarten readiness. Members also encouraged families to use official channels for bullying concerns and praised district staff for their responsiveness. Data transparency and tracking improvements were noted as key steps forward.

 


SUPERINTENDENT COMMENTS

Superintendent Moore praised transportation staff for operational improvements and cross-department collaboration. She emphasized the importance of communication with families, shared ownership of solutions, and continued responsiveness to feedback. She noted the district's progress toward strategic plan goals and acknowledged the collective efforts behind positive school grade gains.
