Wadsworth Panther Planters' Garden Club

Our first meeting will be this Thursday, October 2, from 3:30-5:00.  We will meet every other Thursday in Mrs. Tilton's portable 23.  Applications for the club will be accepted Monday morning.  There are only 18 more spaces available.  Last year's gardeners had first choice to sign up.  We will be working with the Wildlife Gardener curriculum and working towards certification by the end of the year.

 Activities

This year we will maintain and add to the butterfly garden in the courtyard.  We will also be adding many bird feeders, some bird houses, and bird baths.  I hope to add flowers to other sections of the school as well in hopes to beautify our school and add to the educational environment for studying nature.  Our garden, at this time, is a certified monarch waystation.  This  year we have already raised and released numerous monarchs.  I hope to attract other butterfly species with different host plants for them to lay their eggs.

In the spring, we will be adding a vegetable garden to our school.  We will head this project up with assistance from 15 other teachers and classrooms.
