Mrs. Starke's 2nd Grade Class

Welcome to the second grade!!! It is going to be a terrific school year. I am very excited to have your child in my class this year. 

Folders will be sent home every Thursday. They will contain you child’s work and other papers from school. Please review these papers with your child. The empty folder needs to be returned Friday.

HOMEWORK

Your child will have homework every week. A homework packet will be sent home on Friday and will be turned in the following Friday. The homework will reinforce the skills the children have been learning. Reading is always a part of their homework. The children should read every day.

SNACK TIME

Students will be able to bring in their own snack each day. Students do not have to bring in a snack. Please do not let your child have candy for this snack.

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

Your child will need to bring to school the following supplies:

I have been trying to gather supplies for the children this summer. There is a county supply list available at the local stores so families can see what their child needs for school.

From that list, I have purchased for each child:

a glue stick

pencils and cap erasers

  a small pencil box

a box of crayons

Besides the backpack, you will need to provide: 

1 box of washable markers

1 pair of scissors

After winter break, you child's supplies may need to be replenished. 

Our class is being divided for special area. Half of the class will be going with Ms. Ciesla's class and half will be going with Mrs. Walton's class. I will let you know if your child is in the "A" group or the "B" group. Each week in the newsletter, I will let you know where each group will be going.
