October 2008
We send a special “THANK YOU” to our wonderful families for the apple contributions that made our ‘delicious’ apple projects engaging learning activities for everyone! THANK YOU!
October is the beginning of a new treat month. Please send in a store purchased/wrapped snack for your kindergartner to share with her/his classmates. Fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese…etc. are always welcome.
Conferences are scheduled for the week of October 22nd. Our first 9 weeks academic and social progress will be discussed. Our conferences are scheduled for 15 minutes. Please contact your homeroom teacher if you are unable to keep your scheduled time. Our ‘science lab’ has been an exciting place as we’ve observed tadpoles evolving into frogs! Friday, the 5th is “Tadpole Freedom Day” as we return the tadpoles/frogs to their natural environment. Our lab will then become an observation area for plants and, we hope, caterpillar eggs to hatch! Please encourage your kindergartner to share this learning experience with you and you are invited to observe our lab after your conference. Spirit Day is everyday, but WES recognizes it with awards and prizes on the last Friday of each month. Please remind your kindergartner to wear the school colors, blue and gold, or their WES school shirt, (available at the front office). This month’s Spirit Day is Sept. 25th, (no school on the 26th).
Halloween/Fall activities will be on the 31st and we will send home celebration/ information/schedules the week of the 22nd. We continue to work on classroom procedures and routines. When you check your child’s planner each day you help reinforce school expectations. We appreciate your help and support. We are looking forward to our conference!
