It was the weekend before school started and Mrs. Goodin got the call that her adopted sea turtle nest had hatched!  She met a member of the Turtle Patrol at Flagler Beach to observe the excavation on the nest.  Ms. Theresa pulled out shells for 150 eggs!  We were sad to see that some of the turtles didn't make it out of the nest.  When she was just about finished taking out the broken shells, my daughter noticed something moving in the sand.  There was ONE turtle still in the nest, alive and well, trying to get out.  We were ecstatic !!  We decided his name should be LUCKY.  We were careful not to handle Lucky or disturb him as he made his way into the ocean.  Perhaps he will live to be 100 years old like so many other sea turtles.   BYE LUCKY!!!!
