 Welcome Letter

It is my pleasure to welcome you to first grade!!  My name is Lindsay Fletcher and I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher!  I want to begin by telling you a little about myself.  I am originally from Illinois.  I moved to Florida about 5 years ago and finished my teaching degree at Flagler College.  I am beginning my fourth year of teaching.  I taught Kindergarten in Tampa for two years and this will be my second year teaching 1st grade at Wadsworth.

First grade is a hard year filled with many new concepts and subjects.  By the end of the year, it is our goal for each student to be reading independelntly on a first grade reading level.  By working together, teacher, parent, and student, there is no doubt that this goal can be achieved.

I have a very fun-loving and outgoing personality.  I like to have a sense of humor with my students, this helps to gain a relationship with the students and to help them perform in a more relaxing environment.

However, I am a stickler for classroom and school rules.  School rules are basic rules that all students and faculty abide by while at school.  Our classroom rules, are rules that the students and myself will create together.  I feel very strongly about students helping to create a system of procedures and consequences, this helps students take ownership of these procedures and consequences.

I will have a weekly newsletter that will be available on my website or will be sent home every week.  Furthermore, the students will have monthly homework.  This will also be available online or sent home.

Again, I am very excited to be your child's teacher, please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions or concerns.  I am available during my planning 1:15-2:00 and after school from 3:15-3:45pm.  Thanks and I look forward to a terrific year!

Sincerely,

Lindsay Fletcher
