Dear Families,

Words can not express how excited I am to be the new principal of Wadsworth Elementary School.  I feel so fortunate to once again be a part of this wonderful and warm school environment.  I am looking forward to working together with the students, parents, faculty members, and community throughout the remainder of this school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some background information about myself. I attained my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Exceptional Children from Flagler College. From there I began my teaching career by interning in the 5th grade right here at Wadsworth. While at Wadsworth, I had the opportunity to work with special needs students in kindergarten through third grade. During my six years at Wadsworth I pursued a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and I began my administrative experience as a Dean at Belle Terre Elementary School. Most recently I was fortunate to work on implementing new programs at Flagler Palm Coast High School.

Walt Disney once said, “Our most precious natural resource is the minds of our children”, and I truly believe in that philosophy. Wadsworth has a rich tradition and history of being a premier Elementary School. My goal as the principal of Wadsworth is to continue this tradition by providing a safe, nurturing environment of pro-active learners. All students are valued and appreciated for what they can bring to the classroom, school and community.  Our school will focus on the highest potential of each student and will foster an enthusiasm for life-long learning.

Our mission at Wadsworth is to “Raise Student Achievement Every Day, Every Way”, and we strongly believe that the partnership between school and home is the key component to achieving our mission. As part of our district focus to strengthen the partnership between school and home, Wadsworth will continue to provide opportunities, activities, and several different academic programs that encourage student/parental involvement. Our doors will always be open to all stake holders.  In closing, please accept my best wishes for an exciting, productive, and successful remainder of the school year at Wadsworth. I welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions.  Please feel free to call or visit me at any time.  The phone number at Wadsworth is 446-6720 and my e-mail address is olivaj@flaglerschools.com. I truly am looking forward to meeting everyone and being a Panther again.

Sincerely,

Jacob Oliva
