Reading in Kindergarten

 

Each child comes into kindergarten having different experiences with text. They range from knowing the letters in their name to independent reading of basic beginning words (i.e., cat, dog, the, is, me, my, red, can, run,etc.), also known as "sight words". Whatever your child's experience may be, this year he/she will surely grow in this area! Each day, we participate in a lesson in phonics (putting a sound to a letter or a group of letters).
