Reading in Technology

Rymfire Elementary Schools Technology Labs have Apple/Macintosh computers. I am the Technology Teacher on the Special Area wheel class, and will teach your child how to use these machines. Your child will be learning the ins and outs of the Apple/Mac set up, and use their reading, and writing skills in various programs that our school has purchased. I will teach upper grade level children, (3,4, and 5), different ways to present their classroom projects while using vocabulary and comprehension skills. Different presentation projects may include Keynote Presentations, Brochure Making, Podcasting through Garageband, and/or WebPage Designs. Lower grade level children, (1 and 2), will be working on a their writing and reading skills by using a program titled Kidspiration. Kindergarten, 1, and 2 students will be using an excellent Internet Reading Program, starfall.com This wonderful site teaches your child to listen to the letter-sound relationships. Students will have a variety of books and games to improve their vocabulary and comprehension. This site also helps your child transition from learning to read to reading to learn. While students are increasing their reading skills I will also encourage students to learn and improve their mouse, keyboard, and computer skills. I am very excited about school this year, and am looking foward to working with your child.
