WRITING
Please continue to help your child write their name. It is very important that they use the lines to help them form their letters correctly. Also make sure they are using a capital letter at the beginning and the rest are lowercase
(as shown below).

This week I plan to individually assess each student and have an individual practice list by the end of the week. The practice pages will be included in your child's homework. When your child has mastered each letter and number formation, they will not only be rewarded with a certificate and prize, they also will no longer have to complete our handwriting practice every day!
HANDGRIP- MANY STUDENTS ARE HOLDING THEIR PENCIL WITH TWO FINGERS ON TOP. EVERY TIME YOU SEE THEM WRITING OR COLORING PLEASE REMIND THEM TO PUT ONLY ONE FINGER ON TOP (POINTER FINGER)!
READING
Please continue to work on rapid letter naming and sounds. It will help tremendously with their success in reading!!!
We are also working on initial and ending sounds.
For example: What SOUND does cat begin with?
Your child should say the /c/ sound!
You may also ask:
Do you hear the /t/ sound at the beginning or end of cat?
Word Counting - How many words in a sentence?
Word Syllables - sunshine
We count by clapping, sun(clap) shine(clap) = 2 syllables
MATH
Chapter 2 Patterns
We will be working on AB, ABB, AAB, and ABC patterns. For example:
Red, Blue, Red, Blue, Red, Blue = AB
circle, square, circle, square, circle, square = AB
O X X O X X O X X O X X O X X = ABB
? . . ? . . ? . . ? . . ? . . ? . . ? . . = ABB
PINK, BLUE, GREEN, PINK, BLUE, GREEN = ABC
Please help them learn how to copy, identify, and extend patterns!
