HOMEWORK PROCEDURES
Homework will be assigned nightly and is meant to reinforce skills and concepts that are being taught. Students' homework will always serve as a review of material which the students need to master in order to be succesfull in the fifth grade.
READING: Reading from the fifth grade reader, classroom novel or simply for pleasure, and/or studying for an exam.
SPELLING: Spelling assignments including sentences and preparing for the Spelling test which will be given on Fridays.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Social Studies projects or reading to become familiar with content that we will cover in class the next day, or reviewing content that was covered in class.
PLANNER: Studies show that student success is closely linked to organizational skills. Students are required to write their homework responsibilities in the planner DAILY! Please ask your child to show you the planner each night to ensure they are completing their homework. The planner also serves as an important communication tool between teacher and parents.
MISSED HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS: Ten points will be deducted for each day an assignment/project or homework is late. If the student has a family emergency and cannot adhere to the timeline of the homework or project, the parent can send in a note and I will work with the student.
