Dear Families,

Thank you for helping to make your child’s first weeks of kindergarten so wonderful!

The gingerbread man and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom themes have come to an end. I’m sure you heard all about the gingerbread man stories we read and hunting we did for our cookies! I hope decorating the gingerbread man at home was fun for the whole family!

Homework was sent home Monday this week. Thank you for assisting your child with these assignments. Homework packets are due on Fridays. I will be sending a packet home most Mondays.

Behavioral charts and notes home have started this week. We just received our planners, thank you for being patient as we get the last of our supplies. Putting marbles into the good choices jar will start next week! The children are familiar with daily routines and expectations, although reminders are sometimes necessary. We have been talking about good choices and poor choices at circle time. Some children have referred to themselves as “bad girls or boys” for choices they have made during the day. My philosophy is that they are always “good boys and girls” they just make poor choices sometimes. I always teach them that everyone makes mistakes and that mistakes are forgivable. The important thing is that we learn from those mistakes and talk about how to prevent them from happening again.

Some of you still need to return forms to me that where in folders on the first days of school. Please do this as soon as possible. We want to make sure we know how to contact you in case of an emergency. Also, please send the folders back so I can continue to send letters home.

We have read many stories over the last couple of weeks!  We have also been practicing our letters and counting. Your children are very eager to learn! They are all wonderful children.

Open house will be held Thursday, September 18th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.. I hope to see you all there!

We will begin to learn about fairy tales and nursery rhymes next week. The children have enjoyed the many stories we have been reading. Thank you to those of you who are allowing us to borrow books!

Please continue practicing pin numbers with your child. Students are expected to memorize them and be able to put them into the pin pad. Let me know if you need an extra template. Thank you for continuing to send healthy lunches and snacks!

Pictures will be taken Friday, September 19th at 9:50 a.m. Please make checks payable to Lifetouch.

Please remember Wednesday, September 24th is an early dismissal day.

Again, if you have any questions or need to contact me please email me at clarkje@flaglerschools.com.

Warmly,

Jessica Clark
