Homework
Reading
In order to become better readers, kids have to practice reading. A Reading Response Log is to be kept daily. Your child should read 20-30 minutes per night from a book that they can read independently, and then write a response showing that they have understood what they have read. The log should be turned in each Friday. Occasionally, I may assign something additional or a project to be completed at home.
Math
Math will be assigned a few times each week. If it takes more than one lesson for students to understand a concept, they may not receive an assignment. Homework is meant to provide additional practice, not to frustrate you or your child. The math website is very helpful in explaining concepts and providing additional practice. The student book can be accessed at http://www.eharcourtschool.com

Science and Social Studies
Homework may be assigned in either of these subjects. I will usually send home the lesson summary so that the students do not need to bring home additional books. Mostly, your child will need to study for a lesson quiz or chapter test. Please help them to reread any notes or summaries that they bring home. I may ask for you to help your child to complete a portion of a project.
