About Me

I grew up on Long Island, New York, and graduated from Brentwood High School in 1982.  Given the opportunity to spend my high schoold years working on WXBA, the school radio station, was a  great experience.  Upon graduation I was not encouraged to continue my education, but fortunate enough to be offered an internship at WBLI. During this time I met many exciting people which helped influence y professional ability and confidence.  Later I worked briefly with a Disc Jockey company, which lead to me starting my own successful entertainment business.  Having realized the tough competition of the industry, however not sure if college was the right choice, I started working as a secretary and administrative assistant.  Throughout those years I was not completely satified with the direction my life was taking, regretting the years I lost not going to college to pursue my childhood dream of teaching.  Grateful for my computer and time management skills, I returned to college part-time.  Marriage, stability, and a child made me realize being a child educator was definately my place in life.  I graduated from Saint Joseph's College on Long Island in 1998 with a BS in Child Study/Psychology.  Since graduation I have been working as a teacher and loving every minute. I currently hold a Professional Teaching Certificate in New York State and Florida State in Elementary Education.  I taught 4th and 5th grade Math Intervention for 3 years, and pre-K and Kindegarten for 5 years on Long Island. My family made the move to Palm Coast in July of 2005. This is my third year teaching 3rd grade at OKES.
