QAR - Question Answer Relationship teaches students that all questiona are not alike and how to locate information to answer the different types of questions. The reader uses two sources of information: " In the Book" and "In my Head."

 

In the Book QARs Right There

The answer is in the text. The words used to make up the questions and words used to answer the questions are Right There in the same sentence.

Think and Search Put it Together

The answer is in the text, but you must put together different pieces of information to answer this type of question. Words for the question and word for the answer are not found in the same sentence. The answer comes from different places in the text.

In my Head QARs Author and Me

The answer is not in the text. You need to think about what you already know, what the author tells you in the text, and how it all fits together.

On my Own

The answer is not in the text. You need to use your own experience to answer these questions. These kinds of questions are not on the FCAT.
