A Reading First Coach is a professional development liaison within the school to support, model, and continuously assist in improving instructional programs in Reading to assure Reading improvement for ALL students. According to Reading First, the role of the Reading Coach includes: Professional development Planning Modeling Coaching Coach-Teacher Conferences The role of the Reading Coach is supportive rather than evaluative. Reading Coaches focus on the needs of the teachers and their students.
