Planners and Folders:

Planner:

The planner goes home every day.  Your child will fill in school events and activities in the monthly section.  Behavior information will be listed on the weekly pages.  Happy faces mean a great day.  Straight faces mean it was an okay day, but it could have been better.  A frown face means that bad choices were made.  Of course, any straight or frown face will include information about the behavior.  Any classroom information or notes from the office will be clipped next to the weekly page.   Please remove papers each night. Also, please clip your notes to me into the planner - it makes them easy to find!

Weekly Take-Home Folder:

The purple take-home folder goes home every Friday. It contains the work that your child did during the week.  Please look over the papers and send back any that I asked your child to finish. The rest are for you to keep at home. Remember to empty out the take-home folder each week. Please send it back on Monday.

Weekly Homework Folder:

The yellow folder goes home every Monday. It contains the nightly homework for the week and a reading log. Remember to read for 20 minutes with your child each night. The homework folder should be returned on Friday. Please do not do the entire packet in one night. One purpose of homework is to establish a homework routine for the children.

Literacy Journal:

The literacy journal will go home with your child soon. It will go home on each Friday with a book for your child to read. If your child is not ready to read that book on his/her own yet, then please read the book to him/her.  Hearing a story read aloud with enthusiasm will help to encourage him/her to read it on his/her own.  The directions for the journal are on the inside cover. When your child has finished reading the book and has also filled out the journal entry, return it to school.  The literacy journals are due back by the next Tuesday.
