Celebrating Differences

     Everybody is special and unique.  We need to accept and celebrate our own and other’s special differences.  Despite these differences everybody is capable of learning and contributing to our society.  This webpage will tell you about several different handicapping conditions and ways that you can experience what it feels like to be challenged with them.

     
   Some people have hearing disorders.  Try wearing cotton in your ears all day at school and see what it is like to have a hearing loss. 
  
 Some people have various learning disabilities that make reading and writing especially challenging.  Try reading the message below to experience what it like for many people with dyslexia.     

 

 
   Try wearing two socks (clean ones please) on your non-preferred hand. Then try to pick up small pieces of paper off of the floor. Now you know what it is like to have fine motor difficulties.
