Mrs. Germano's 2nd Grade
Hello and welcome to my website! I thought you might enjoy learning a little bit about me. So here it goes!
I completed my internship here at OKES and moved on to a substitute position with Title 1 students. After teaching for a few months in 3rd grade, I decided to stay home with my family for a year. After some much needed rest, I returned to OKES to teach 2nd grade and I have enjoyed it dearly.
I am an ESOL Endorsed teacher, which means I have completed courses on how to teach students who are learning English as a second language. Also, I am currently working on my Reading Endorsement in which I should have completed by the end of the year. The Reading and ESOL Endorsments or REESOL shows that I have studied strategies to best teach my students in all areas of the curriculum, not just reading.
In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, reading, cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with my family. I am married with two boys that are currently students at OKES. My parents live close by me and we spend a lot of time together eating dinners, going to parks, and anything that involves them with grandma and grandpa time.
I think it is important for children to have a love for reading and it is not only my job to teach students how to read, but to share with them my enjoyment of reading whether it be narrative stories, newspaper articles, or even magazines. Reading is knowledge and can lead to an understanding of yourself and those around you.
Just a final tidbit of info. about me. I love Dunkin Donuts coffee and Tazo green tea. Do you see a caffeine pattern?
