CAR RIDER INFORMATION

Welcome to car riders. As the children are learning the routine and memorizing their car rider number things go a little slowly, so we ask for your patience and cooperation. It will improve and you can help by practicing your child's number with him/her. We have a wonderful, caring staff who have your child’s safety at heart. Please follow procedures and call  if you have a problem(517-2060).  For the safety of the children, to maximize academic time and minimize the disruption to the classroom, you need to use the car rider area for picking up your child and not come into the office for dismissal.

For the safety of the children please keep in mind that students are not to be dropped off at the front of the school. There are no school employees on duty in that area. Please use the car rider drop off area. The gate will open at 9:05 and car riders must not leave your car until staff arrives to greet and supervise your child. The gate will close at 9:20 in order for students to arrive to class on time. If you need before school care, please enroll your child in the Extended Day Program (517-2063). This is a fee-supported program available to all parents. Your child must be pre-registered for this program. There are morning and afternoon sessions available

Usually the closer you come after 3:25 p.m. the faster the line moves.  We will make every effort to get your child to you in a timely manner. For the safety of your child, you will not be given your child without the 2008-2009 car rider number and you will be sent to the front office to verify custody. Car riders who are not picked up by 3:35 p.m. will be brought back to the main office. Please make every attempt to pick up your child by 3:35 p.m. Again, you can sign your child up for Extended Day in the afternoons. Extended Day will not allow us to drop off students if your child is not registered. Our office closes at 4:30 p.m. We do not have the personnel to supervise your child, so please be on time. Thank you for your help in this matter.

As we begin a new school year we will surely hit a few bumps in the road. With the help of everyone, we will have a smooth road ahead by always thinking of safety first. Here are just a few tips to adhere to:

1.  Do not allow children to exit cars in the AM until staff is on duty.

2.  Please allow the children to exit the car from the curb side only.

3.  Parents, please do not exit your vehicle to retrieve your child. Staff members will assist your children to the car.

4.  Remind children to look both ways.

5.  Remind children to pay attention to their surroundings.

6.  Remind children to listen to and follow directions asked of them.

7. Again, please be patient. Do not attempt to drive around cones placed strategically for safety.
