"Raising Student Achievement Every Day....Every Way!"...

is exactly what a REHEARSAL PROCESS is all about...In the ARTS, ACADEMICS and ATHLETICS, we raise the level of expectancy and performance on a daily basis.  Life is an Adventure and the ACTING, AMERICAN LITERATURE and SPEECH classroom IS AN EXCITING PLACE TO BE!  Students will be involved with many hands on activities designed to implement the Florida State Sunshine Standards.

We think OUTSIDE the TRIANGLE!

Guidelines for Success:

Each student is expected to produce quality work that shows a degree of excellence.

Excellence is shown by factors such as:

Going above and beyond the minimum requirements

Engaging the mind on several levels:  listening, appreciating, endorsing and applauding others

Respect for others and self

Involving oneself in the discovery of knowledge, using that knowledge to improve one's mind, spirit and brilliance

 Setting daily objectives

SCHEDULE:

A BLOCK:  1ST  ACTING ONE      2ND  ENGLISH III     3RD  ACTING II, III, IV   4TH  PLANNING

B BLOCK:  1ST  ACTING ONE   2ND PLANNING   3RD SPEECH   4TH  SPEECH

 Dramatic  Greetings!

'Another Openin' of Another Show!"  except at this time I am 'opening' my 25th year of teaching.  I have taught and learned from over 4,000 students and continue to be astounded at those moments

GOLDEN HAMMERS…SILVER SAWS…SHIMMERING LIGHTS

POWERFUL PAGES…CREATIVE CHARACTERS

LIGHTS…CAMERA…ACTION!!

Combine the above with the quirky angst of teens and you have just wandered into a DRAMA CLASSROOM!

High drama on a daily basis…from Show tunes to Hip Hop, from poetry to prose…my classroom is filled with a cacophony of characters richer in material than many plays we read or produce.

Think of those ‘SOUL MATES’ who assume the awesome task of ‘shaping’ and ‘forming’ a show! As anyone knows who has been associated with production planning, CREATIVE CHAOS reigns from day one. A multiple array of ideas and visions must converge and marry to form one pathway---not an easy task. To see IDEAS and VISIONS ‘DANCE ON-STAGE’ is to be inspired as a teacher, a director and a person.

Think…of the characters living in the written plays…! Think…of the eccentric or regular or comedic or dramatic characters who are waiting to be written….! Think of breathing LIFE into a character….making him ‘jump-up’ from the written page…Think of reading a play for the first time…and remember the very first time you saw Live Theatre… Remember the MAGIC!

For what is theatre? What is a Theatre Classroom?

This magical space is LIFE and LIGHTS and MAGIC!

It is my belief and my philosophy that we can all be brilliant…that we have an inherent ability to achieve…. If…!

If we are given or discover the opportunities…

Teaching theatre arts has allowed me to learn more about myself than I would have ever dreamed. A theatre arts classroom resembles a cloud of brilliance…. Filled with young minds that stimulate and inspire others in this grand adventure called life.

THEY ARE THE BRIGHTEST OF THE LIGHTS, AND LIKE LIGHT, THEY IGNITE THE WORLD WITH THEIR TALENT, ENTHUSIASM AND DETERMINATION.

WHAT IS THEATRE? THEATRE IS LIFE!!

THEATRE IS A LIVING, BREATHING IMMEDIATE REFLECTION OF LIFE AS WE HAVE LIVED IT IN THE PAST, ARE LIVING IT NOW…IMAGINE IT TO BE IN THE FUTURE

WHAT IS THEATRE? THEATRE IS COMMUNICATION

AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND OTHERS

AND A CHANCE TO LEARN THAT WE ARE ALL HUMAN WHO WILL sometimes make the right decisions, sometimes MAKE MISTAKES, BUT THAT WE CAN ALL LEARN a LESSON or two!

FROM THE GREAT PLAYWRIGHTS WHO HAVE SET

CHARACTERS INTO ACTION,

PLOT INTO MEANING

AND

STORIES INTO MEMORY, we learn that

Life is not perfect

That we will face disappointment

THEATRE SHARES THE HUMAN CONDITION AS WE SHARE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THESE SPECIAL YOUNG ACTORS.
