English classes!

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome back! I want to start this new school year by congratulating all my students from 2007-2008 who performed so well and enabled our school earn its very first "A" from the Florida Department of Education. Way to go Pirates!

Special recognition is due to those from the Class of 2009 who passed the 2008 Advanced Placement English Language & Composition exam, Jessica, Royce and Elias scored  5. Christian & Tember scored  4. Earning 3's were: Micah, Kevin, BoCherie, Taylor, Jasmine, Catherine, Heather, Kristina, Megan, Jeff and Christine.

On the FCAT writing exam, congratulations to the 99% of my English 2 students who passed, and in FCAT Reading, further kudos are in order for the 75% of my English students who passed this exam. I knew you could do it!

This year's classes have their work cut out for them. It won't be easy to maintain that "A." To help students keep focused, on track, and organized in their work, I will be updating this website frequently. YOU CAN FIND YOUR CLASS/SUBJECT WEBSITE IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THIS PAGE. Students who are absent should consult the online class polices/procedures document which contains a homework/assignment calendar, as well as a vocabulary list, to keep track of missed work.

September 11-- Parent "Open House"/Curriculum Night

September 24 --early dismissal

October 15 -- PSAT for sophomores (Mrs. Nahirny's AP juniors MUST sign up to take PSAT to be eligible to qualify for NMSQT)

October 21 --end of first grading period
