| French Classes on the Move Matanzas Brings French to Wadsworth Elementary MHS French Club and Classes have been on the move! Students at MHS introduced an after school French program to third, fourth and fifth graders at Wadsworth Elementary School. Chris Morris, Kristina Proto, Emily Pennington, Ashli Onan and Laetitia Romanet did a fantastic job creating lesson plans and working with over forty elementary students. Each week centered on a theme such as colors, numbers and greetings. Some of the highlights included singing a Halloween song and learning the French names of planets, all en français! The program culminated with a celebration of the French culture which included students dressing in blue, white and red, creating French flags and sampling a French dessert. A special merci to WES principal, Ms. Carla Taylor, who was very gracious and supportive in this endeavor. We are very excited and hope this sparks an interest in our young students to continue to explore the French language and culture some time in the future. National French Week November 5th through 9th was National French Week. Mrs. Milnes’ French Club and classes shared their French knowledge by labeling items and places around the school in French. Come and take a promenade through our hallways and discover our French signs, such as la fontaine à eau (water fountain) and le tableau d'affichage! (bulletin board) In La Cantine, Mrs. Graciella, our wonderful MHS chef prepared and served delicious French desserts such as cream puffs, French cheesecake and crèpes of dulce de leche. A big thank you to Mrs. Graciella! French classes created French Christmas cards to share with the residents at Sterling-Brookdale Assisted Living Facility. Club members delivered the cards in style by singing French Christmas carols and sharing a bit of French culture with the residents who proved to be a lively audience. |
