Procedure for Entering the Classroom - Enter the classroom quietly after the previous class has exited the classroom
- Quickly use the restroom, drink water, sharpen pencil, etc. if needed
- Retrieve homework, books and supplies from backpack
- Place homework, backpacks and supplies in designated areas
- Sit in assigned seat and immediately begin writing the planner note in planner and begin the DO NOW (Brain Quest, Pre-reading, etc.)
| | | Procedure for Leaving the Classroom - Dismissal is the Teacaher's discretion after the bell rings
- Students will return suplies and materials to their proper locations
- Tables, desks, chairs and floors will be trash-free
- Chairs will be pushed in quietly as students are dismissed
- Leaving students have the right of way and arriving students will line up against the wall outside the classroom door and wait for the previous class to vacate the classroom. DO NOT BLOCK THE DOORWAY!

| Procedure for Drills and Emergencies - Remain calm
- Be silent, no talking is permitted
- Follow pre-established procedure for specific situation
- Listen for and follow additional instructions from teacher and/or administrator

- Do not allow conflicts to disrupt your safety and learning or that of other students
- Inform your teacher or guidance counselor

| Procedure for Classroom Visitors From time to time guests will visit our classroom. Whether the guest is a student, parent, administrator, or community member, students will adhere to the following procedure: - Remain in assigned seat
- Silently wait for the visitor to conclude his/her business with the teacher
- If it is a guest speaker, silently wait for him/her to be introduced to you by the teacher
- Welcome the guest speaker and follow SLANT procedure

| Procedure for bathroom. Disturbing other students will not be tolerated. - Students may use the bathroom, get water, sharpen pencil once during the period but not when the teacher is instructing the class or during a test.
- Idealy these should be taken care of upon entering the room before class begins
- Bathroom - Do not need to ask permission, just check the Red/Green sign on the wall. If Green, student may quietly change the sign to Red, go to the bathroom, upon returning change the sign back to Green, return to seat quietly and begin working
| | | Procedure for water fountain, sharpening pencils, throwing away trash, etc. - Water - Do not need to ask permission. Use fountain in classroom, one student at a time, quietly so as to not disturb others
- Water bottles are permitted in the classroom but may not be used in a disruptive manner. Only plain, unflavored water is allowed in the classroom and container must have a top
- Pencil sharpening - There are several pencil sharpeners in the room. Do not need to ask permission. Do not disturb others. If using a hand held sharpener, clean up any shavings that may have fallen on the desk or floor and throw in trash can
- Trash - Work areas are to remain clean. In most instances trash should be discarded when leaving the classroom so as not to disturb others
