Book Projects
BOOK PROJECT DUE SEPTEMBER 26TH
You are required to read 2 grade-level appropriate novels for each 9 week grading period. For each book you will be required to turn in a book project. YOU MAY NOT CHOOSE TO COMPLETE THE SAME PROJECT TWICE
Choosing an acceptable novel:
♦ The novel must be grade-level appropriate
♦ The novel may not be a novel that is also a movie
♦ The novel does not have to be reading counts
Project Requirements
♦ 1 sentence summaries after each chapter
♦ 1 of the 9 book projects discussed below Book Projects (to be done in addition to chapter summaries)
♦ Shoebox DioramaConstruct a diorama of a scene in your novel. You must include a full rationale explaining the scene in your model. Length: ¼ page.
♦ DiologueConstruct a diologue between a character in your novel and a character (or two) that we have met through in-class assignments. Be srue to ujse the proper diction of the characters, and demonstrate your knowledge of the individual characters through your writing. Length: 20 lines for each character
♦ Comic BookDraw and color a comic book of the story. Be sure to include all important information and events. The reader should have a full understanding of the story after reading your comic book.
♦ Compare and Contrast Paper2 page paper (typed) that uses the story elements in class to compare and contrast 2 stories. You may choose to compare/contrast your novel to a short story read in class.
♦ Plot Curve PosterDraw a plot curve poster that includes ALL of the following components: Setting, characters, character traits, point of view, conflicts, theme, labeled plot curve, illustrations, and whatever else you would like to add.
♦ Summary and Story Board
- Write a summary of the novel and draw a story board to go along with it.
- Re-summarize the novel as if it takes place in a different setting and draw a story board to go along with it.
- story boards must be in color and show effort in illustrations
- actors (characters). What are some of their character traits?
- Set (setting) Where and when will this be filmed? Why?
- Catch phrase (theme)
- Short Review (builds suspense: thank of the back of a blockbuster movie)
- Pictures/illustrations
♦ Newspaper Article.Write a newspaper article about some aspect of the story. It should be at least 200 words and include illustrations. This must be in article format!
♦ I am open to any projects/writing assignments that you would rather do. Please be srue to ask me in advance via written proposal for your project if you would rather display your understanding of the novel in another way. FOR EXAMPLE: CROSSWORD PUZZLE, GAME, BROCHURE, ETC.
