Classroom Procedures and Expectations
* Every classroom needs to have set procedures and expectations so that it runs smoothly, creates a positive learning environment and the students and parents know what is expected of the students in the classroom. Here is an outline of my classroom procedures. Feel free to come to me with any questions or concerns about how my classroom is run. Tardy: A student is considered tardy if he or she is not in their seat when the bell rings. Absences: A student will be given 2 days to make up missed work due to an absence. Homework: Homework is due at the beginning of class. Late work will be accepted for up to three days with a 10 point penalty per day. Class Folders: Each student will have a classroom folder in which they will keep all graded work. This will be organized with a table of contents and available for parent and admistration viewing.
Stamp Reward System: Students will be given a stamp card in which to keep track of their stamps. Students will earn stamps for exceptional work and behavior. They may trade in their stamps for homework passes, bathroom passes, candy and other prizes throughout the year.
PROGRESS REPORTS ARE SENT HOME EVERY OTHER FRIDAY. THESE NEED TO BE SIGNED ADN RETURNED BY THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY OR LUNCH DETENTION WILL BE ASSIGNED. | Class Pets: No student is to touch the classroom pet guinea pig without permission. Scruffles is very delicate and I do not want him to get hurt!
Do Now: Every day there will be a do now on the board. This will typically consist of a journal entry or writing promt, grammar practice, vocabulary practice, etc. The students are expected to start the do now as soon as they enter the room. These will be graded randomly. If a student is absent they are expected to make up the missed do now as well as the other classroom work. Bathroom Passes: Students will be given 2 bathroom passes for each 9 week grading period.
Behavior: It is expected that the students will behave in a way that will promote learning. Fighting, arguing, foul language, disrespectful attitudes, sleeping, uncooperation, etc will not be tolerated at all in this classroom and will result in disciplinary action.
Progress Reports: Progress reports will be given out every other friday and are expected to be returned with a parent/guardian signature the following monday. Reading: Every student is required to read 2 chapter novels for each 9 week grading period. They may not choose novels that are also movies. Students will keep a reading log and will be required to take a quiz (reading counts or my own) and complete a book project for each novel read. |
