Backpacks for Kenya Project: Sending Books Created by Students to the Equator

It is always better to give than receive!

Mrs. Shields Family & Consumer Science classes participated in a “Backpacks for Kenya” project.  Eighth grade students made 75 backpacks to be sent to young girls living in the Rift Valley Province in Eldoret, Kenya. The backpacks will be filled with books made by students to send along with the student made backpacks.  The girls range in age from eleven to sixteen years old.  They walk to school every day carrying books and supplies.  Unlike American students, backpacks are not a necessity.  The backpacks will be hand delivered along with some photos of the students, by me in Kenya this summer.  The backpacks made at ITMS gratefully received by these young girls.
