3/24:  Given a grade sheet in class to take home, get signed, and bring back

Due 4/25:  Vocabulary lesson 14 A-E; 2 most important events from each chapter of novel

In class 4/25:  Quiz on end of book

Due 5/1:  Library Checkout Sheet for book 7, timelines of The Outsiders (in groups)

Due by 5/2 (earlier to have it included on the progress report):  Extra Credit - write one of the chapters of The Outsiders from the perspective of a different character in the book

5/5:  Grade given for preparedness/having materials on desk when tardy bell rings

Due 5/7:  Poetry activity packet; 1st third of chapter summaries (one-third of total number of summaries, not including chapter 1:  for example, if your book has 21 chapters, you could turn in 6 for the first deadline – chapters 2 through 7, then 7 more, and finally, the last 7)

Due 5/9:  2nd set of novel chapter summaries

Due 5/12:  In-class worksheet on Robert Frost poems

Due 5/13:  Remaining chapter summaries;  Vocab. chart worksheet for Lesson 15 words (will not complete activities from workbook for these words)

5/14:  Poetry Quiz

Due 5/14:  Reading Counts Quiz or Book Report form; 2 poems with notes on poetic techniques used and explanation of why you selected the poem as one of your favorites - these will be for the Poetry Anthology assignment (see checklist below) 

Due 3/18:  Finish reading assignment (Night:  pgs. 3-22, The Giver:  pgs. 1-19), worksheets (Night:  Questions #1-12 from handout, The Giver:  list of differences & character map for Jonas), and completed sticky notes for discussion

Due 3/19:   Night:  Read to page 36 and complete sticky note, The Giver:  Read chapters 3 & 4 and complete sticky note, (in class writing assignment)  Answer all parts of the question in paragraph form with an introductory and concluding sentence!  Night – Stereotypes:  define in your own words, explain how they have affected the characters in the book so far, and tell whether you think they exist today (give examples)
Giver – Careers:  if you lived in the Community, what job do you think you’d be given (can be one they haven’t mentioned in the book) and why?  If Jonas lived in our world, what job(s) do you think he’d be good for?  Explain your reasoning.

Due 3/25:  Notes from research you did for novel project

3/28:  Vocabulary Quiz 13
