Sixth Grade Advanced Language Arts Course Description: This course provides instruction in English language skills. The content includes, but is not limited to, instruction in vocabulary and grammar. Writing experiences will be challenging and structured to provide practice in paragraph, essay, test and real-life writing situations. Numerous opportunities will be given to students for extending their speaking and listening skills. Students will be graded using higher level rubric requirements and may be required to participate in writing contests. Students will also practice fluent and legible cursive handwriting.

- Students develop the essential technology skills for using and understanding conventional and current tools, materials, and processes.
- Students engage in the higher-level writing process to effectively communicate ideas and experiences.
