Sixth Grade Language Arts Course Description: This course provides instruction in English language skills and the study of literature. The content includes, but is not limited to, instruction in vocabulary and grammar. Writing experiences will be structured to provide practice in paragraph, essay, test and real-life writing situations. Opportunities will be given to students for extending their speaking and listening skills. Students will also practice fluent and legible handwriting.

- Students effectively apply listening and speaking strategies.
- Students develop the essential technology skills for using and understanding conventional and current tools, materials, and processes.
- Students engage in the writing process and write to communicate ideas and experiences.
- Students use multiple strategies to develop grade appropriate vocabulary.
