Vision

In a world filled with famine, disease, poverty, war, pollution... what were your parents thinking when adding you to the nearly 6.6 billion Homo sapiens already scathing the planet???

Haven't you ever wondered.....

"Why was I born?"

It's my belief that the answer is quite simple. You were born into this world to make it better. From a kind gesture that brightens someone's day to an energy-efficient hydrogen engine, you have the potential to make a positive difference in the scheme of life. In our classroom, you will learn how biologists classify the millions of species on our planet. You will come to understand how the interactions between organisms and their environment can impact an ecosystem's survival. Most importantly, you will practice the skills used by scientists to solve real-life problems.

As we embark on this year's adventure, keep these great thoughts in mind:
  1. Greek philosopher, Socrates, would agree that the best answer to a question is another question.
  2. According to physicist, Albert Einstein, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
  3. George de Mestral, inventor of Velcro, credits nature for providing him with a great idea! Sparked by curiosity, he used a microscope to observe the bothersome "hitch hikers" that had attached themselves to his pants after a walk in the woods. Their unique rod-like shape has been commercially replicated to fasten shoes and other products across the world.
  4. Leonardo Da Vinci states, "Although nature commences with reason and ends in experience it is necessary for us to do the opposite, that is to commence with experience and from this to proceed to investigate the reason."

Open your mind, focus your microscope and strap on your binoculars....

Life is waiting for you!
 Make it better!
