Grades & Assignments
Tests and Classwork comprise this Intensive class. Therefore, they are equally important. If students attend daily and work consistently, they should earn A's or B's. If students miss class and/or don't work with consistency and effort, they will earn C's and D's.
Homework = Intensive Reading students have a regular Language Arts class, which requires homework. In addition, one of their wheel classes is replaced with this Reading class. Therefore, to ensure success and to reduce stress, I do not give Homework other than a parent signature on Progress Reports.
I expect students to work carefully and conscientiously while in Intensive Reading class. If students do this, they will perform well on classroom tests and for classwork grades (as well as on the FCAT). If a student is scoring a 70 or less, he/she is not giving enough attention and effort while in the classroom.
