World Geography Syllabus Name:_______________________Country:___________________________Partner:_________________Region: ______________ Period: ____   Teacher: Mrs. Davies - Grade 7 - Room 160 - 4rth Quarter -

Step 1:   Review Learning ObjectivesStudents will learn to complete the syllabus in order to do research independently, and to work on a team. They will understand how to use executive skills: primarily time management, organizational skills, and technology skills.  As a result, their writing and presentation skills will both continue to improve. Students will be given ample time in the media center. However, extended learning or homework time should also be utilized. Students will be graded both individually and holistically. 

Step 2:   Assignment Instructions:Critiques – (Title, photo, and paragraph format) Each team is responsible for writing one critique per category about the culture of their chosen country.  Individuals may choose their “favorite four” topics.  Critiques must be word processed, one complete paragraph, spell checked, and grammatically correct.  A visual of the work studied must be included on the same page.

BiographiesA biographical sketch is required for each of the four categories. Individuals may choose their “top two” topics.   All biographies are to be word processed, two paragraphs in length, presented in chronological order, and must include a photograph or visual centered under the title and byline.

 Current EventsTwo current events per student on a current issue in their region of study found either in the newspaper or on the internet.  The current event (informative paragraph) must be written/typed in response journal format (four facts and a prediction

Once finished with an assignment, students should cross out any work already completed off of their syllabus. Students will go through the writing process and receive a grade, but will still be held accountable for all completed work to be compiled into geography notebooks.  All of the written work listed above will then be turned in at the end of the quarter for their final grade.  * Signifies regional group work
