WELCOME!

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! I hope all of you had a wonderful summer vacation. I am looking forward to working with my students and their parents.

My students will be taking part in Science and Social Studies expeditions with our brand new Voyager program. This program is technology based and incorporates learning centers along with differentiated, small and whole group instruction.

All instruction will be focusing on the Sunshine State benchmarks. We are learning reading strategies to enable us to raise student achievement.

Some of the strategies we are learning are:

Cause and effect
Comparison
Thinking Maps
Clarifying
Vocabulary
Inferences
Research and Refernce
Main Idea and details
Work on building "before, during and after" reading strategies that they can use across the content areas.
