Homework

1. Science articles: These are summaries of current science events. Students will be asked to write a 5 sentence summary and a 5 sentence reaction to an article about science of their choosing. These articles will be due every other Friday (start date TBA). The only exception to the every other Friday rule is if there is not school. The science articles are worth 20 points.
2. Classwork: Allow students class time to work on vocabulary, worksheets, pictures, stories, labs, etc.  If students does not finish the work in class, I allow the students to take home the work to complete.  It is the students repsonsibility to complete the work by the due date. 

Planners

• I post the homework and due dates on the board in several places:
  1. I have an upcoming dates board with all test dates, project due dates, and any other major class date.
  2. On the left hand side of the board, I post the weekly itinerary (including homework and due dates).
  3. Next to this I post the daily agenda, homework, and assignments that are due.
• At the start of each class I have the students write the homework in their planners.
• In the planner you should see:
  1. The homework assignment (due date).  For example....  Ch 1 Vocab (8/20).  This will appear in the planner until the assignment is due.
  2. If the student did not turn in an assignment you will see a missing assignment stamp.  Above the stamp you will see the name of the assignment.
  3. Test Dates and Project Due Dates
• I check the planner as each student leaves the room.  The students do not leave my room until I see their homework listed in their planner.
