History Notebook Guidelines

 Introduction:  Notebooks in this class will help you record, organize, and process new information.  Much of your class work and homework will be done in your notebook. Reading activities and chapter reviews will be completed in the notebook.  Additionally, you will create a variety of graphic organizers, charts, maps, and illustrations that will also be included in the notebook.   Each day you will begin a few lines below the previous day’s work on the same page of the notebook.   The date and the QOTD, (Question/Quote of the Day) must be written in the notebook everyday.  All student-generated material must be creative, colorful, and accurate. Upon entering the class, immediately get out your student planner, copy the objectives, activities, and homework assignment.  Then get out your notebook, log the date, copy the QOTD, and respond to it.  You will have 5 minutes to complete this work.  Do not put your notebook away.  It  should remain open and on your desk unless you are given other instructions by me. Materials:  Binder with notebook paper, colored pens/pencils, highlighters, glue stick, folder Grading: Notebooks will be collected and graded each marking period.  They will be worth 2 test grades (approximately 200 points).  Notebooks will be graded on thoroughness, accuracy and quality of work, organization, and visual appeal.  Cover:  Inside cover of the notebook is to be decorated.  The cover must include the following information: Name of Student and Class Period Decorate the cover!

Table of Contents:  keep an updated table of contents based on the assignments listed on the grade sheet.

 Unit Title Pages: Each Unit we study is to have a title page and each is to be decorated . 

Number Pages: All pages should be numbered.

 Assignment labels need to be highlighted.  

Notebook Appearance: Notebooks should be very neat!  Each entry must be titled and dated.  Take pride in your work!
