HISTORICAL EVENT / BIOGRAPHY CRITERIA

Students will create a project first and second marding periods.  Students will read and learn about an event in American history, or complete a Historical Biography, and then create a report on the event/person.  Each of the two reports must be in a different format (power-point presentation, mobile, diorama, video production, model, puppet show, etc.) All Historical Event / Biography reports, no matter what format, must have the following information.

 

EVENTBIOGRAPHY
  1. Describe the situation that preceded the event being researched.  (30 points)
1.          Brief overview of childhood  and personal life.                (30 points)
  1. Describe the setting that the event took place in.
                (30 points)
2.          Identification of education and areas of employment                        (30 points)
  1. Describe the event in complete detail including the outcome of the event.

3.          Major Contributions of the person                                                                   ***(50 points)***
  1. Evaluate what happened and describe how the event affected America      (30 points)
4.          Evaluation of the person (what did you like and dislike about him/her and why)            (30 points)
  1. Creativity     (20 points)

 This assignment (no matter what format) will be worth 200 points. Each report must have a minimum of three (3) sources.  One must be a book.

  • Students may not do George Washington, ML King, Sports Figures, Pop Culture Icons.
  • Ms. Baker-Chalick must approve your choice each marking period.
  • Only one historical event / person per class will be allowed.
  • Do NOT copy and paste, a.k.a. PLAGARIZE.

 Due dates for each marking period

Marking Period One due date:  Tuesday September 30, 2008.

Marking Period Two due date:  Tuesday December 16, 2008.

One letter grade deduction for each day late will be utilized for this project.

  • Projects will not be accepted beyond 3 days past the due date.

Work that is plagiarized will not be graded.
