About this course

The purpose of this course is to provide appropriately individualized curricula for students who are gifted. The content includes, but is not limited to the following:

  •  
    • higher-order thinking skills
    • independent learning
    • application of acquired knowledge
    • high-level communication
    • career exploration
    • leadership
    • self-awareness

 

           

           Gifted Studies Course Syllabus

   Students work independently and in cooperative settings to research four prescribed topics, create multi-media presentations, create original scenarios based on research, create community-based/service learning venues, explore careers and university offerings and demonstrate problem solving strategies. A six step problem solving process serves as the the delivery model:

  • Brainstorm  challenges
  • Identify an Underlying Problem
  • Brainstorm Solutions
  • Create and Utilize Criteria to Evaluate Solutions
  • Create a Plan of Action for the Solution

Student may particpate competitively in one or more of the following areas: 

 Scenario Writing, Team Future Problem Solving, Community Problem Solving, Invididual Community Problem Solving, Individual Research-based Writing
