1.  La Quinceanera: A girl's 15th birthday party is celebrated with the same level of formality as a wedding. Preparations for the celebration and church ceremony begin months ahead of the awaited event. A special dress resembling that of a princess is especially made or altered for the quinceanera, and 14 boys and girls learn the dance steps they are to perform at the celebration following the religious ceremony that consists of a blessing.
2. La serenata: It is customary in hispanic countries for a young man who is in love with a girl to secretly sneak in front of her home and with the help of friend musicians, perform a special song or songs for his loved one.  The serenata takes place on special ocassions such as the young woman's birthday, anniversary, or simply when she is unhappy with her loved one. In Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico, a medieval group of university musicians called a"Tuna" is frequently seen in front of balconies playing Spanish Medieval and traditional romantic songs.
