1. ENTERING THE CLASSROOM. The starting assignment will be posted on the board. Without having to be told, begin the assignment. It is during this time, right after the bell, that I take roll. If you are not in your assigned seat,
you could be counted tardy.
2. ARRIVING TO CLASS AFTER THE STARTING BELL. You will need to report to the Dean’s Office for a late slip. It is your pass to enter the classroom. The Dean’s Office accumulates these tardies for all classes. This is a school wide rule.
3. HOW WILL I BE GRADED? I grade on a total points basis. Each activity that you do has a different point value. Keep all paper with punched holes in your notebook under the appropriate chapter. The approximate weights of the four graded components in the course are: Tests = 50%; Quizes = 20%, Study Guides/Homework = 20%, and Lab/Activities = 10%.
4. YOUR EXTRA CREDIT CITIZENSHIP/COOPERATION GRADE. While not a part of the basic course, good citizenship and common courtesy in class and towards your fellow classmates is one of the most important personal qualities that you can learn and practice. As such I award extra credit points to students who exhibit successful behavior. This is solely at my discretion and is intended to reward those students who try their best.
5. EXTRA CREDIT HALL PASSES. If you do not use any of the two hall passes that you get each 9-Weeks, I will give you enough extra credit points to raise your 9-Weeks grade 1% for each of the two passes not used. This is a part of your citizenship and is subject to my discretion. Remember that I am not obligated to give you something that you have not earned.
6. LEAVING THE CLASSROOM. For all passes you must have your School I.D., sign out, and back in, on the classroom log.
7. IF YOU ARE ABSENT. Check with your classmates to see what you missed. If you were gone when I gave a Handouts, your name will be on it that you can get from me. If you missed a DUE DATE, see me to arrange for a make-up and turn-in of your work.
8. KEEPING YOUR CLASS NOTEBOOK. All materials that are three-hole punched must go into your notebook. Use a three-ring binder. You MUST retain all graded work for possible verification purposes until the end of the course.
9. EATING OR DRINKING IN THE CLASSROOM. This is against school rules. Ground level rooms with outside doors make it very easy for insects to invade the room. At NO TIME are you to have food or drink open at your desks.
10. TURN IN HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS WHEN DUE. I do not accept late work. Your grade is a zero. If you know that you will miss a deadline, make some arrangements with me before, not after, the due date.
11. DO YOUR OWN WORK. If you are having trouble raise, your hand. You are not to give or receive help from another student unless I give you permission to act as a helper. Let me know if you want to be a helper. When I allow you to work with a partner, you may help each other.
12. TO AVOID PLAGIARISM & CHEATING, a zero on the assignment, and a referral, all class work that you do MUST be your own effort.
13. DO NOT THROW ITEMS IN THE CLASSROOM. This is a safety violation and is dangerous to your classmates. It is an AUTOMATIC REFERRAL for dangerous behavior. I immediately put you on written record as a student who exhibits dangerous behavior in the classroom.
