Flagler Palm Coast High School
Creative Black and White Photography I
Course Description
Instructor: Mrs. Biggs
*Prerequisite: C or better in Drawing and Painting I
This is a beginning black and white photography course where you will cover how a camera functions, how to handle lighting concerns, how to process film, how to make prints, and how to mount them. This course is comparable to a beginning black and white photography course in college; in fact we use the same text as the DBCC program uses [Black and White Photography: A Basic Manuel by Henry Horenstein]. We will work out of the text quite a bit. We will also do at least five assigned photography projects: Landscape/Waterscape, Still Life / Product Photography, Documentary / Photojournalism, and Portraiture. The midterm in this class is a 100 question written test. The final exam is a PowerPoint presentation of your portfolio.
