“The Code”

Two rules will be the guidelines for conduct in our classroom this year.  Students will familiarize themselves with these rules and will be expected to follow them at all times while at school, on the bus, or on school trips.  These are:

“Respect Other’s Right to Learn”

and

“Treat Others the Way You Want to be Treated”

 Homework Policy:
I believe homework is a valuable aide in helping children to make the most of their experience in school.  Homework is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, practicing daily skills, and developing independent study habits.  Your child will be expected to finish all of his/her work in class. Ample time is given for most assignments to be completed in class; however, if your child does not finish his/her work for any reason, it will need to be completed at home and turned in the next day.  In addition to any unfinished work in class, your child will have a small amount of assigned homework that is due each weekday.  Schoolwork should take precedence over extra-curricular activities, and homework should be worked into your schedule without any problems.  Grading Policy: If for any reason a student turns homework in late, it will be ten points off for each day it is late—no questions asked.  If a parent calls or writes a note to explain why work is late, that is fine, but ten points will still be taken off—unless there are extenuating circumstances.    Points will be given for homework based on completion.  Your child must complete all assignments to the best of his/her ability.  If he/she has done this, and turned in work on time, he/she will be awarded 100%.  It’s an easy grade!  You are the key to making homework a positive experience for your child this year.  Please make homework a priority for your family and provide the necessary supplies and a quiet environment, for your student to complete his/her work.  Communication is key for a great year.  The planner or email is a great way to communicate with me if you feel you need to bring something to my attention.  You may call me at the school and leave a message as well.  Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any concerns or questions.
