| Arrival and Dismissal Class hours are 9:15-3:10. Class begins promptly at 9:15. It is very important that your child is in their seat and getting ready for the day by that time. If the child purchases a school breakfast, then he/she is allowed to enjoy their meal as they begin their morning work. When the children are dismissed in the afternoon, they are dismissed to their appropriate places. If for some reason your child will be going home a different way then usual, I must have a signed parent letter early enough to get it approved by the administration. Car riders are to be picked up and dropped off at the South side of campus. |

| Money Matters It is very important to send all money/checks in a SEALED ENVELOPE. Please indicate on the envelope your child’s name, teacher’s name, and what the money is for. This will ensure that all money is appropriately used. |
 | At Home Practice This year your child will be working on developing and building upon good reading, writing and computing skills. Your child will hopefully become a fluent and expressive reader, a descriptive writer, an automatic adder and subtracter, a money counter, a time teller and much more. These skills are critical to your child's success in thier future education as well as in their life within the everyday world. These are not skills that they can master if they just work on them from 9:15-3:10, 5 days a week. These are things that need to be practiced regularly. Add some additional practice into your nightly and/or weekend routine and I assure you that the extra effort will pay off. Your child will become more successful, more confidant, and more prepared for their future endeavors. |

| Happy Birthday To You! All children are excited about their birthdays. If you wish to bring in a special snack to celebrate your child’s birthday, please be sure it is store bought. We bring these special snacks to the cafeteria with us and enjoy them at lunch time. |

| Homework and Weekly Folders
Your child will receive a homework packet every Monday. I only give homework assignments on skills that have been taught and practiced in class. Your child is expected to complete this work and it is due by Friday. A weekly folder will also go home every Monday. In this folder you will find graded work, our classroom newsletter, flyers for events, et cetera. There is a signature sheet at the front of the weekly folder. After you review and go over all of the work with your child, you are to sign and date on the signature sheet. By signing the sheet you are confirming that you have reviewed all work that was sent home in this folder. |
 | Student Planner
Every day your child will write in their planners. Their planners will hold any important notice or information as well as any note that I write in order to get in touch with you. I ask that every night, you check the planner and sign off on it once you have checked that your child has completed the assignments that are documented in the planner. This is also where you will find the daily behavior documented, and any small note from me. |

| Reading Log
At the beginning of each week your child will fill out their Reading Log. Here you will find the titles and page numbers of the stories for the week. You will also find the spelling and vocabulary words for the week. Each night your child will bring home their Reading Log with their Reading Book. You are to sign the log each night indicating that you read with your child and/or you observed them reading the stories alone. |
