Shiovan Marshall, 1st Grade Teacher |
I am truly delighted to be a 1st grade teacher at Belle Terre Elementary School, part of an outstanding team of education professionals. This will be my sixth year teaching first grade. My goal is to establish a positive learning community and build the foundation for all students to become life-long learners. Through challenging curriculum, thematic units, and rich children's literature I will provide students with exceptionally engaging learning experiences, as well as working with them on the invaluable socialization skills shared amongst their peers. In addition to my responsibilities as a 1st grade teacher, I've taught Voluntary Pre-K for the last three summers and Reading Remediation: An intensive intervention program for grades K-5. My initial motivation for persuing a career in education began while I was a Parent Volunteer at Wadsworth Elementary School. Inspired by the excellent teachers and rewarding classroom experience, I made and achieved the goal of earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. Prior to my current position as a 1st grade teacher at Belle Terre, I enjoyed teaching 1st grade for three years at Wadsworth Elementary School. Now my passion for teaching is inspired by the progress, achievement and enthusiasm of my students. The most gratifying part of being a 1st grade teacher is watching young children develop into independent readers, writers and problem solvers. I am looking forward to a fantastic year with the terrific 1st grade class I have this year!
